Glimepiride + Metformin is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines:

Glimepiride acts as sulfonylurea that increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to low down the blood glucose. Metformin is used as medication to control high blood sugar. It is used in patients with type 2 diabetes. It also helps to control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Metformin works by helping to restore your body's proper response to the insulin you naturally produce. 

It is effective for the treatment of patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Side effects may include- Hypoglycemia (low blood glucose level), Taste change, Nausea, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Headache, Upper respiratory tract infection. If any of the effect worsens reach out to your doctor/physician immediately.

Glimepiride is contraindicated in patients with : low blood sugar, pituitary hormone deficiency, a condition where the adrenal glands produce less hormones called Addison's disease, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, hepatic porphyria, a type of blood disorder where the red blood cells burst called hemolytic anemia, alcoholism, liver problems, decreased kidney function, a body temperature higher than 101 degrees Fahrenheit, weakened patient a mother who is producing milk and breastfeeding, dysreflexia, Allergies : sulfonylureas.
